Well who am I?
I feel that in our culture today, this is a question that gets asked a lot. I can't really tell you who I am since I am still figuring that out myself, but I can give you some tidbits about myself. Maybe I should just start over...Hi! I am Katie. I was born in California and have currently moved to Syracuse NY for school. This is my blog/web page, I created this because I have always been horrible at keeping journals and have been trying to make a web page since April of 2009. I have various interests from the arts to food to sports. I enjoy dabbling in a bit of everything.
Hi! I am still Katie. I was born in San Jose, California and am currently a student at the University of Maryland studying Community and Behavioral Health. After six years, I can tell you exactly who I am and I've had some amazing adventures to get me there. I've moved all over the US and spent some time living in Canada as well. I've worked in the film industry building art sets, swam in the gulf of Mexico, been woken up to an LA earthquake, seen the Woman's World Cup, designing television shows, commercials and working on community outreach programs like TreeWe'vr where we installed parks inside school buses and brought them into inner cities. Currently I am involved with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, training to be an EMT and also with the American Red Cross where I work as Case Manager. In the future, I want to be involved with the implementation and building of nutrition based programs and policy development in urban areas.

Food: I adore food. I don't find salad appetizing, and I am the worst vegetarian you will ever meet ie. I might pretend that I am not vegetarian for a day just for sushi or beer-battered deep fried hot dogs ( yes, they are real and glorious). My favorite kinds of food are Asian, Mexican, and Italian. I always crave chips...I am secretly a fat kid at heart.
This is all still relevant, though now I tend to enjoy salads more. My favorite cuisines are still Mexican and Thai. I can't say no to any soup or pasta dish and I haven't had a beer-battered deep fried hot dog since 2010 when I wrote this.
.................................................................................................................
Movies: I love all genres, except westerns. My favorite movies include:300, Inglorious Bastards, Moulin Rouge, Avatar ( You need to see it in 3-d if you haven't already)Fight Club, The Little Mermaid ( I am sorry but I am a little girl), Reservoir Dogs, Pan's Labyrinth, Big Fish, and The Departed. I think I just love bad ass movies or movies that make me cry
My favorite film still is Moulin Rouge. I am a sucker for films with great production design, especially period pieces.
.................................................................................................................
Sports: I love playing soccer and swimming. However, I am extremely competitive and play dirty. I adore watching football (even though my team has had 9 seasons of "building" years....Go Raiders). Lacrosse is the most fun game to watch people get wrecked in, and I have never been to a hockey game, but I feel I need to. The only sports I don't like are ones I am not good at...tennis, baseball, and volleyball
Sports don't really resinate with me as they used to, but I still enjoy an occasional game and am still a shin kicker = ]
.................................................................................................................
Arts: I also feel I have a cultured side to me as well. I am a painter and spend a lot of time sketching. I don't enjoy going to modern art galleries of finger painting, because I am not going to waste my time looking at something I could do myself. I also enjoy going to plays and ballets, and I am an avid reader....really I read way more than necessary.
It's been far too long since I've painted but I am starting again.
I’m lucky enough to have some truly wonderful friends and plenty to be thankful for. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my blog.
